Mission Statement
Heart of Hope Evangelical Ministries exists because I believe every person no matter where they live or what they have endured deserves to know the life-changing love of Jesus Christ. After walking through my own season of loss and discovering the hope that only comes from faith, I was called to carry that same hope to the hurting, the forgotten, and the unreached.
Our mission is to go where the Gospel is needed most to communities where hope feels distant and the name of Jesus is rarely spoken. Through evangelism, discipleship, and compassionate service, we seek to plant seeds of faith, strengthen local believers, and leave behind a legacy of transformed lives that continue to shine the light of Christ long after we are gone.

Pastor Mattie Chawinga
Founder & Evangelist
My name is Pastor Mattie Chawinga. I was born in Oklahoma, and currently reside in Ohio. My faith journey began with my baptism in 2008 and has been shaped by both God's blessings and life's challenges. After experiencing the loss of several loved ones in a short period of time, I found myself searching for hope and direction. During that difficult season, God placed a pastor in my life who mentored, encouraged, and inspired me to grow deeper in my relationship with Christ and pursue His calling for my life.
I began my ministry journey in 2017 with a desire to serve others and share the love of Jesus Christ. In 2021, I earned an Associate Degree in Biblical Studies, and in 2025, I was ordained through the Independent Christian Church International.
I am a proud mother of two children and grandmother of nine grandchildren, all of whom have been a great blessing in my life.
Through years of faith, growth, and service, God led me to launch Heart of Hope Evangelical Ministries in 2025. My mission is to encourage, uplift, and share the message of hope found in Jesus Christ. I believe that no matter what challenges a person faces, God's love, grace, and mercy can bring healing, purpose, and renewed hope for the future.

El Salvador Mission Trip
In 2024, Pastor Mattie traveled to El Salvador to share the Gospel and serve alongside the local community. This journey held special meaning as she was joined by her granddaughter on her very first mission trip — a powerful moment of faith passed from one generation to the next as they ministered together to spread the message of hope in Jesus Christ.
Liberia, West Africa · Mission Journey
Liberia Mission Trip
Heart of Hope Evangelical Ministries journeyed to Liberia to share the Gospel, encourage local believers, and walk alongside women and youth in the community. The trip focused on prayer, discipleship, and proclaiming the love of Christ to every heart God placed in our path.
Malawi, Africa · Mission Journey
Malawi Mission Trip
Heart of Hope Evangelical Ministries traveled to Malawi, Africa, to partner with Alive Christian Church and share the Gospel with communities eager to receive the message of hope in Jesus Christ. The journey centered on fellowship, prayer, and building lasting relationships with local believers and families — demonstrating that the love of Christ transcends borders, languages, and circumstances. Standing alongside brothers and sisters in faith, we witnessed firsthand how God is moving powerfully in the hearts of His people across the African continent.
